So summer is here and that means endless amounts of disc golf. I just got a job delivering pizza's for papa john's so its going to interfere with golf a tiny bit...but I won't let it die whatsoever. I'm working on numerous different aspects of my game, trying to get better every time I play. I was told that I wasn't throwing far enough or using the right discs but for each our own right? I throw further than a lot of women out there, and as far as discs go...once i start winning tourneys and getting more discs...until then i throw with what I have (8 discs) and it works until I find another great disc. Get ready golfers...cuz here I come!!!

Keep commenting to keep this at the top of the discussion board. This site is big enough and has enough disc golfers around the US to have everyone keeping and eye out. I really hope they find it soon.

Back in K-zoo and just played my first tournament

Well, after a crazy year @ Michigan Tech, i'm now back in Kalamazoo and I have been disc golfing ALL DAY EVERY DAY! And finally, after about 3-4 years of playing and improving my game time after time, i played my first tournament at Begg Park in Battle Creek @ the Handlebar Open. I shot the hot round in the first round with a 71, putting me in the lead by 2 throws. In the second round, my competition brought the heat and took first in the end by 1 THROW! Even though I ended up taking second, I h… Continue

Winter is finally creeping to an end for me...

Well....it's been a long winter for me up here at Michigan Tech. We still have a couple feet on the ground right now, but its all nasty and melting right now. It snowed for quite a bit today too...April 1st...and its still snowing....what kind of shit is that? I just can't wait to get back home after the semester ends so i can golf whenever, wherever (if im not working). I've been able to golf back home over the breaks (winter, spring break), but that is just not enough for me. I want to be out… Continue

The DEW

The DEW -- The Downtown Emma & Wade.

Thats what we named it. Today it was 55 degrees in Southwest Michigan. the previous few days, everything has been one suicidal sheet of ice. Until today, everything melted...the rain helped though. You know what that means...yup...disc golf. but wait a minute...Wade and I had no car, and no money for a bus to either knollwood or oshtemo DGC. Sooooo....we decided to improvise alittle bit.
We borrowed a portable metal basket from Wade's friend Tim earlier… Continue

Alittle bit about me...

Whats up to anybody who even reads this. Well...My name is Emma and i grew up in the Kalamazoo,MI area. We have really awesome disc golf courses there. I started out about 3 years ago...but i just got pretty good at throwing just this past year. The 2008 Disc Golf World Championships were held in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area...and i have to say that it was really awesome! I volunteered as a spotter for the entire week. It was such an amazing experience for me and i'm so glad that it came arou… Continue

Thanks again, Emma! I really do appreciate the advice on the discs! I also checked out the link that you gave me the first time on courses. I found a much better one to play at that isn't too far from here. I also think I'll be more likely to meet experienced players there that I can watch and learn from. I seldom see players at the one I go to now because it isn't a very good course. Thanks again for your help!

P.S. I listed my discs on a comment to that blog. When you get a chance, would you look them over and tell me what you think? Thanks!

Hi, Emma! Yes, thank you for the comments on my blog - very helpful! Thanks for adding me as a friend, too. It was a little cold, windy, wet, and muddy today when I went to the course today to practice my putting, but remembering that you play in MIchigan weather - I wouldn't dare complain. :)

Hey Emma,
Very few golfers, men or women, can claim they were top 4 in the Open division of a tournament, so congratulations. The real shame is that you didn't have the hot hand and beat Wade's score. You could have harassed him forever.

Practice well and the next time you play Open it will be on purpose.
