I would recommend coming out to league and requesting to be put on a card with some of the open players and then ask lots of questions and watch what they do. You'll learn a lot!
I'm about to paint mine. I'm using a matte grey automotive primer with an enamel topcoat. Got to love the fact that I need to paint it after 18 months of use.

The other idea I had was if you had some land . . . open a for profit disc golf course and attach a store to it . . . aka pro shop.
